Foundational to Anna’s vision is the interplay of imagination and perception, observation and play. Driven to reflect the tension between two and three dimensions she fuses sculpture and architecture in abstract compositions, using her own images of man-made environments.
Upon immigrating to the U.S. Anna utilized the camera to understand and bridge the differences she encountered. Fueled by an acute awareness of how land and its uses can impose limitations, exerting subtle and silent forms of control, her images highlight forgotten landscapes within urban environments. She is drawn to capture outdated obsolete buildings and structures hiding in plain sight.
Inspired by her architectural training she manipulates her images into constructed forms that play with reality. By assembling new structures she offers an opportunity for an expansive vision, providing portals to wider perspectives and untethered possibilities.
